The dried shells of the soapberry (a fruit) contains saponin (an effective cleaning agent), but NO CHEMICALS! Used for ages for hygiene, hair care and general cleaning. Easily converts to powder or liquid.

Easy to use:

- Put 5-6 shells (1/2 oz) in wash bag and tie closed.

- Toss in directly in washer with laundry. Don't overstuff load.

- Reuse 5-8 times or until spent (turn grey). (Based on actual user experiences - no exaggeration.)

- Used shells are compostable and excellent when used as a nutrient rich garden mulch.

- Use traditional cleaning aids as desired.

Loads vary due to size, cycle, temp, hardness, washer type, etc.

TIP: Run a couple hot loads with rags to purge washer of chemical residue.

The little bag is very durable and stays closed in the wash (we tie the drawstring in a knot for security). They also successfully run through the dryer. We have a front loading maytag commercial quality washer and a standard maytag gas dryer.

I put "samples" of soap nuts from my big bag, into the little bags, and give to loved ones (I usually stuff the bag for them and tell them to store them in a ziploc bag or glass jar and only use about 5 or so nuts per "use", which equals about 5 loads. This way, they can get quite a few trials of them and have some on hand while waiting for their own shipment to arrive!). They sell a three-pack of the bags on amazon.
